hot stone Massage

A stone massage uses water-heated special basalt stones from the ocean floor to apply pressure and heat to the deep fascia. As the stones are pushed and placed along the recipient's back, they retain heat which then deeply penetrates into the muscles, releasing tension.[2

European/Swedish/classic modality

the most common known modality which originated in Swedish and Italian spas in the 1940s. The five basic strokes are effleurage (sliding or gliding), petrissage (kneading), tapotement (rhythmic tapping), friction (cross fiber) and vibration/shaking. Swedish massage has shown to be helpful in reducing pain, joint stiffness, and improving function in patients with osteoarthritis of the knee over a period of eight weeks. It has also been shown to be helpful in individuals with poor circulation. The development of Swedish massage is credited to Per Henrik Ling, though the Dutch practitioner Johan Georg Mezger adopted the French names to denote the basic strokes. The term "Swedish" massage is not really known in the country of Sweden, where it is called "classic massage".[2]

Trigger Point Release/ acupressure

Trigger points or meridian points are described as hyperirritable spots in skeletal muscle that are sometimes associated with palpable nodules in taut bands of muscle fibers. Trigger point addresses areas of concentrated stored energy in the fascia and a common cause of strain, even pain. Compression of a trigger point may elicit local tenderness, deferred pain, or local twitch response. Immediate release response is not uncommon.

Reiki (pronounced Ray Key)

A combination of two Japanese words rei and ki meaning universal life force energy. Reiki is an ancient laying-on of hands healing technique that uses the life force energy to heal, balancing the subtle energies within our bodies. Reiki addresses physical, emotional, mental and spiritual imbalances. This healing art is an effective delivery system. The Reiki practioner serves as a channel that supplies healing energies where they are most needed. Reiki can be done during a massage or by itself.
